Clarifying Self Hypnosis

Anybody of sound mind is capable of self-hypnosis. Whether that person subscribes to the practices of hypnotism or not, he or she can still be hypnotized. This is because our brains are hard-wired to respond to stimulus such as hypnotic suggestions and the like, even if we are conscious of it or it's just our subconscious which caught the stimulus.

Of course, some will be easier to hypnotize than others and those who actually believe in hypnotism will be better candidates than those who doubt its effectivity. Just the same, with constant practice, hypnotism can be learned and practiced on one's self or others.

This is probably what led a lot of people to believe that hypnotism is some dark art meant to harm an unwitting and otherwise unwilling victim or to use that person to cause harm on others. Fortunately, nothing is farther from the truth. I've already discussed extensively in other articles how even under hypnosis you will still be aware of what you are doing, what you are being made to do and what is happening around you. More importantly, if you are doing self-hypnosis the "risks" of being victimized by unscrupulous hypnotists is even slimmer.

Also, if you are trying to hypnotize yourself, it will be best if you first come to terms with whether you believe it will work or not. Practicing self-hypnosis while holding on to the belief that it will not work is not only self-defeating, but is an exercise in futility as well. Again, if you think you can, you will, if you think you can't, you won't. It's that simple. Hypnotism is an art perfected by constant practice; it is not a magical spell that will still engulf and work on you despite your disbelief.

To get you on the right path, ask the guidance of those who zealously believe that self-hypnosis works. Ask them for step-by-step procedure on how to get into the hypnotic state and how they suggest to their subconscious. Don't be surprised if you get diverging opinions if you consult a number of people who practice self hypnosis. It is but natural considering how some people get hypnotized faster than others.

The important thing is whether it takes you a longer or shorter time to hypnotize yourself, you know that you will eventually succeed. Even if it takes you a long time to master self-hypnotism nothing is better than finally having the power to control your mind, more specifically your thoughts, to help you achieve all that you have always wanted for yourself.
